Michael Olise. $174 million. That's the number Florentino Pérez has attached to his next big statement signing, and it's the same figure Transfermarkt currently uses to value the Bayern Munich winger. No ambiguity there.
Pérez, campaigning for another four-year term as Real Madrid president, made the pledge public last Thursday: if he wins next Tuesday's election, he intends to go to Bayern with that figure on the table. The target is Olise. The goal is to land a right-wing specialist who could define the next era at the Bernabéu.
Why Olise fits what Real Madrid are missing
The right flank is a genuine gap in Madrid's current setup. Franco Mastantuono is in the building but almost certain to go out on loan to get regular minutes. Beyond him, there's no proven, established wide threat on that side. Olise, operating on his inverted left foot, cuts inside from the right and carries the kind of technical threat Madrid have historically built their attack around.
He's 24. Bayern signed him from Crystal Palace for $60 million in the summer of 2024 — a fee that already looks modest given what's happened since. His first season in Germany showed the talent, but this year he's crossed into a different category entirely. If the World Cup kicks off in Mexico on June 11 and he performs at that level for France, the asking price will only go one way.
A completed deal would make Olise the most expensive player in Real Madrid's history. That's the weight of this.
Bayern won't make it easy
None of this is straightforward. Bayern have no financial pressure to sell — they're one of the few clubs in Europe who can genuinely hold firm on any player. But they've let valued assets go before when the numbers were serious enough. $174 million is a serious number.
Madrid's title odds in next season's La Liga and Champions League markets will look considerably different with Olise in the squad. Right now, the election comes first. If Pérez wins on Tuesday, expect this to move fast.
