Mohamed Salah is leaving Liverpool this summer — that's confirmed. What isn't settled yet is where he ends up, but Fenerbahce have made the first serious move, tabling a three-year contract reportedly worth £17.3 million per season.

According to The Sun, citing reports from Egypt, Fenerbahce officials have already held talks with Salah's representatives. This isn't idle speculation or an agent doing the rounds — the club has apparently laid out a full three-year project built around the 33-year-old, with the belief that his name and quality alone can end their 12-year wait for the Turkish Super Lig title.

For context: Fenerbahce have finished second five consecutive seasons. Five. They're not short of quality, but they've been stuck behind Galatasaray like a team cursed. Salah would be the biggest statement signing in the league's recent history — and they know it.

Salah wants Europe, but his options are wide open

Salah has been clear that he wants to stay in Europe. That rules out Saudi Arabia and MLS for now — though both are circling and will likely push hard if a Champions League club doesn't materialize. Turkey sits in an interesting middle ground: technically European football, but not the elite level Salah has operated at for the better part of a decade.

The proposed Fenerbahce package is described as the most attractive European offer he's received so far. That's either a strong pitch or a sign that the top clubs aren't as interested as the rumor mill suggests. Possibly both.

Salah is taking his time, which makes sense. His 22 starts in 25 appearances this season suggests Liverpool have already begun managing him out — and he'll know it. There's no urgency on his end to sign anything before he's sure it's the right fit.

Liverpool have already started looking ahead

Anfield isn't waiting around. Liverpool have been linked with Francisco Conceicao, Michael Olise, Jarrod Bowen, and RB Leipzig's Yan Diomande as they search for long-term options in wide attacking areas. That's a varied shortlist, ranging from explosive youth to proven Premier League output.

None of those names are Salah replacements in a strict sense — they're building a different attack, not cloning one. The smart money on Liverpool's forward line odds shifts considerably depending on who they actually land, and right now that picture is unclear.

Salah leaves with 22 of 25 appearances this season, a nine-year spell at the club, and a transfer story that still has several chapters left to write. Fenerbahce have made their move. Now it's his call.
