Deadline Day is here, and Europe's clubs are running out of time. Here's exactly when each window slams shut — and where the drama is most likely to land.
Premier League closes at 11 p.m. UK — with a catch
The Premier League window closes Tuesday, Sept. 1 at 11 p.m. UK (6 p.m. ET / 3 p.m. PT). That's four hours later than last summer's deadline, which already buys clubs more room to breathe — or panic, depending on your perspective.
The EFL matches that same 11 p.m. UK cutoff.
There is a deal sheet provision: submit paperwork before 11 p.m. and clubs get a two-hour extension to finalize documentation, pushing the true hard deadline to 1 a.m. UK (8 p.m. ET / 5 p.m. PT). Anything not officially registered by then is dead in the water, extension or not. Don't expect clubs to treat this as a safety net — it's a last resort, not a loophole.
The Bundesliga, Serie A and Ligue 1 are closing earlier at 8 p.m. UK (3 p.m. ET / 12 p.m. PT), which means German, Italian and French clubs will be watching Premier League chaos unfold with their windows already shut.
La Liga goes past midnight — and Julián Alvarez is still waiting
La Liga, as ever, operates on its own schedule. Their window closes at 11:59 p.m. UK (6:59 p.m. ET / 3:59 p.m. PT), giving Spanish clubs an extra hour on everyone except the Premier League's extended deal sheet cutoff.
That extra time matters for Julián Alvarez, who has spent the summer angling for a move. Whether a deal materialises remains the lingering subplot of Spain's Deadline Day. Barcelona, for their part, appear to have shifted focus to Arsenal's Gabriel Jesus — which tells you something about how fluid the final hours of any window can be.
Beyond Europe, the Saudi Pro League window runs until Oct. 12, so any player who misses out on a European move tonight still has options — and Saudi clubs still have leverage. MLS closes its secondary window Wednesday, Sept. 2, though the league has already done its notable business this summer with Robert Lewandowski, Antoine Griezmann and Casemiro all now playing stateside.
