Transfer Target Linked to Sundowns and Chiefs Speaks Out After MLS Move.

Puso Dithejane has finally broken his silence after completing a surprise move to Major League Soccer. The 21-year-old South African forward joined Chicago Fire from TS Galaxy on January 13, leaving several PSL giants disappointed.

The youngster signed a four-and-a-half year deal under the U-22 Initiative program. He'll be linking up with Mbekezeli Mbokazi in the Windy City, though the transfer fee remains undisclosed.

What makes this move interesting is who missed out. Mamelodi Sundowns were reportedly leading the race for Dithejane's signature, with many expecting him to join the Brazilians this January window.

TS Galaxy owner Tim Sukazi confirmed that Sundowns made an official bid. However, he quickly rejected it, saying the offer wasn't good enough to let their star man leave. Kaizer Chiefs were also in discussions with the player but never submitted a formal offer.

The Numbers Behind the Move

Dithejane's performances this season caught everyone's attention. He's bagged four goals and provided six assists so far, showing he's got both finishing ability and creative flair.

For betting enthusiasts following the PSL title race, losing out on Dithejane could impact Sundowns' squad depth as they chase down Orlando Pirates. The Brazilians needed attacking reinforcements, and missing this target might affect their odds in the second half of the season.

Meanwhile, Chiefs continue to see talented players from their youth academy leave for bigger opportunities. Dithejane came through the Amakhosi youth system before moving to TS Galaxy, where he truly developed his game.

What the Player Said

Taking to social media, Dithejane expressed his excitement about the new chapter. "Greetings to the Chicago Fire supporters. My name is Puso Dithejane, and I am both proud and excited to become part of this fantastic club," he posted.

He added: "I'm grateful for the opportunity to be involved in what promises to be a special journey. I'm eager to step onto the field, give everything I have, and perform in front of you all."

Fans on social media had mixed reactions. One supporter praised Tim Sukazi's player management skills, while another questioned why Chiefs keep losing graduates to other clubs. Some supporters used the move to discuss how European and American leagues value South African talent differently than local fans might expect.

This transfer shows the growing pipeline between South African football and MLS. For Chicago Fire supporters, they're getting a young, hungry forward who's already proven himself in a competitive league. The next few months will show if he can adapt to American soccer.
