Ghana to Face Somalia at Essipong Stadium, Not Accra, in 2027 AFCON Qualifying.

Ghana will host Somalia at the Essipong Sports Stadium in Sekondi during the 2027 Africa Cup of Nations qualifying campaign, Ghana Football Association president Kurt Okraku has confirmed.

Okraku said the fixture will not be staged at the Accra Sports Stadium, with the Essipong Sports Stadium receiving temporary approval from the Confederation of African Football instead.

"I can tell you on authority that the game will not be played at the Accra Sports Stadium. It will be played at the Essipong Stadium because we have had the green light from CAF," he stated.

Okraku explained that CAF has granted Ghana temporary permission to use both the Accra Sports Stadium and the Essipong Sports Stadium while the association works to prepare the facilities for international matches.

"I think we will be ready. The Confederation of African Football has given us temporary permission to use the Essipong Stadium. As we speak, we have two temporary approvals, the Accra Sports Stadium and the Essipong Sports Stadium," Okraku added.
