Dundee have launched a new third kit for the 2026/27 season that draws direct inspiration from Liga MX club Monterrey, reflecting a partnership between the two sides that goes back nearly two years.
Announcing the kit on the club's official website, Dundee said: "Dundee Football Club is delighted to unveil our 2026/27 season third kit, celebrating several of our long-term connections. The kit takes inspiration from our partnership with C.F. Monterrey and pays homage to their 'Rayados' (striped) nickname and their tradition of dark blue and white stripe shirts."
Dundee's home jersey is traditionally dark blue and often features white, so the new third shirt is not a radical departure from the club's usual colours. The Scottish Premiership side, nicknamed "The Dee," wore the Rayados-inspired kit for the first time in a 3-1 home win over Kilmarnock on Wednesday.
How the partnership began
In November 2024, Monterrey announced it had signed what it described as "a sports collaboration agreement" with Dundee. The stated purpose of the deal was to collaborate with Dundee in the training, development and projection of young players from the Rayados' youth academy on the European continent.
Several Monterrey academy products have since spent time at Dundee, including Antonio Portales, who was at the club between 2023 and 2025, along with César Garza and Víctor López, who both joined on loan in 2025, and Aldahir Valenzuela, who arrived on loan earlier this year.
Who are Dundee?
Dundee are currently in their fourth season back in the Scottish Premiership and finished eighth among the league's 12 teams last season. The club reached the semifinals of the European Cup in 1963, a year after winning their only Scottish league title, and their most recent major trophy came in 1973 with the Scottish League Cup.
Dundee are often confused outside Scotland with city rivals Dundee United, whose stadium, Tannadice Park, sits less than 200 metres from Dundee's home ground, Dens Park, on the opposite side of the same street.
