Alex Morgan Is Expecting Her Third Child — Life After Football Is Full.

Alex Morgan retired from professional soccer in September 2024 to prioritize her family. Eight months later, that decision looks well-timed: she and husband Servando Carrasco are expecting their third child.

The announcement came through social media in the days leading up to Mother's Day — a fitting backdrop for a player who walked away from the game at 35 specifically to be more present at home. Morgan had revealed her second pregnancy as part of her retirement from San Diego Wave FC, saying 30 years connected to the sport was enough. The third child comes just weeks after Enzo Michael Carrasco, their second, was born at the end of March 2025.

What she left behind

To understand what Morgan gave up — or chose to leave on her own terms — the résumé matters. Two Women's World Cup titles, 2015 and 2019. Olympic gold at London 2012. A Women's Champions League with Olympique Lyonnais Féminin in 2017. She wasn't winding down at the end; she was still competing at the highest level when she made the call to stop.

Carrasco, her husband, played his entire career in MLS after being drafted by Seattle Sounders in 2011. He cycled through New York Red Bulls, Vancouver, Houston, Sporting Kansas City, Orlando, LA Galaxy, and Fort Lauderdale before retiring after the 2020 season — never quite nailing down a starting role at any of those clubs, but a decade-long professional career nonetheless.

Their oldest, Charlie Elena Carrasco, turns five on May 7. Now there will be three under the same roof before the year is out.

Morgan was one of the faces that made women's soccer commercially viable in the United States. She won't be back on a pitch. But by her own account, that's exactly the point.
