Stellenbosch FC have agreed a season-long loan deal with Indonesian Super League club Borneo Samarinda for Bafana Bafana midfielder Njabulo Blom, with the formalities expected to be concluded ahead of next Monday's transfer deadline.
The twice-capped international has already arrived in the Winelands to link up with his new teammates for the remainder of the campaign, giving the Maroons an experienced body in midfield as they look to strengthen their squad before the window shuts.
Blom brings a varied footballing background to the club. The 26-year-old has had two separate spells with Kaizer Chiefs, either side of a stint in Major League Soccer with St. Louis City in the United States.
Blom on the Move
Speaking after his arrival, Blom sounded upbeat about the switch. "I'm excited to be here and to start this journey in a new environment," he said. "I'm looking forward to the challenge and building relationships with my new teammates. I will do my best to help the team and see what we can achieve together."
He also pointed to Stellenbosch's reputation as a factor in the move. "Stellenbosch is a professional and well-run club, and players who have played here in the past have enjoyed success, so I felt that it was a good environment for me to grow and to play competitive football again."
Blom added that working under head coach Gavin Hunt should help him rediscover his best form. "I know coach Gavin demands a lot from his players and that will also help me improve and get back to my best."
The midfielder has been handed the No 35 jersey for the season. Should the loan be finalised in time, he could make his Stellenbosch debut against his former club Kaizer Chiefs when the two sides meet in a league fixture on Saturday, 17 October 2026.
