Shelbourne Pull Off Major Coup as Will Jarvis Returns Home.

Shelbourne fans have every reason to be buzzing right now. The club has just pulled off a massive signing by bringing Will Jarvis back to Tolka Park on a permanent deal from Notts County. This is the kind of move that gets supporters excited for the season ahead.

The 23-year-old attacker knows the club inside out. This will be his third spell with the Reds, and his previous two stints were nothing short of impressive. He first arrived on loan in the summer of 2023, bagging three goals and three assists in 12 league games as Damien Duff's side finished fourth.

But it was his 2024 return that really turned heads. Jarvis smashed in nine goals before Hull City recalled him. Even though he left early, Shels went on to win the league title that season. His contributions were so good he won two League of Ireland Player of the Month awards.

Quick Move by Joey O'Brien

When the opportunity came up, new manager Joey O'Brien didn't mess about. He moved quickly to secure Jarvis on what the club is calling a long-term contract. The fee hasn't been disclosed, but this is clearly a statement signing from Shelbourne.

Jarvis couldn't hide his excitement about the return. "Once I heard from Joey and Luke, it was a no-brainer for me," he said. "The years here were the best I've had in football. There's something special about playing at Tolka."

For punters looking at the League of Ireland this season, this signing could be significant. Jarvis brings proven quality at this level with 12 goals in roughly 30 league appearances across his two loan spells. Shelbourne's odds for a title defense just got more interesting with this attacking reinforcement.

What This Means for Shels

O'Brien called it a huge boost, and he's not wrong. "His record here speaks for itself," the manager said. "He brings goals, creativity, and real attacking intent." Having someone who knows the league and already has chemistry with the club is invaluable.

After his loan spells, Jarvis returned to Hull and made 11 Championship appearances before moving to Notts County a year ago. Now he's back where he feels most comfortable, and Shelbourne fans will be hoping he can recapture that 2024 form.

The winger could make his debut as early as Friday when Shels kick off their league campaign at Waterford. That depends on international clearance coming through in time, but either way, this is a signing that signals serious ambition from the reigning champions.
