Record-Breaking MLS Manager Sacked After Just 44 Days in English Championship.

West Bromwich Albion have pulled the plug on Eric Ramsay after just 44 days in charge. The former Minnesota United boss won zero games from nine attempts. That's a brutal stat no matter how you slice it.

Ramsay picked up just four points from a possible 24 in the Championship. The fans had seen enough, and they weren't shy about letting him know. "Eric Ramsay, your football is s---" rang around The Hawthorns before he got the boot.

This one stings extra hard because Ramsay arrived with serious credentials. He'd impressed at Chelsea's academy and spent three years coaching at Manchester United. When he moved to Minnesota in 2024, he absolutely smashed it, breaking team records for points, goals scored, and wins.

Why Did It All Go Wrong So Quickly?

Ramsay made a classic mistake when he arrived in January. He tried to implement his own tactical system right away, switching West Brom to a back-three formation he'd used in Minnesota. Problem was, the Baggies hadn't played that way in over two years.

The results were catastrophic. West Brom scored just three goals and conceded 12 in his first four games. Ramsay quickly abandoned the experiment and switched to a 4-4-2, but the damage was already done.

Two consecutive 0-0 draws followed, which did little to inspire confidence. Many supporters felt Ramsay was scrambling for solutions while the team edged closer to the relegation zone. His inexperience became a major talking point at a time when West Brom desperately needed a steady hand.

Implications for West Brom's Survival Fight

The timing couldn't be worse for West Brom. They sit just one point above the relegation zone with only 12 games remaining. That's cutting it incredibly fine in what's shaping up to be a nail-biting finish to the Championship season.

For those betting on relegation battles, West Brom's situation just got even more unpredictable. A new manager bounce could happen, but there's also the risk of continued instability. The Baggies need someone who can hit the ground running, and they need results immediately.

Ramsay joins Wilfried Nancy in the MLS-to-Europe failure club this season. Nancy, the 2024 MLS Coach of the Year, lasted just 33 days at Celtic before getting sacked. Ramsay managed 44 days, which is hardly something to celebrate.

When Ramsay left Minnesota, he said MLS would offer more stability than the Championship. Looking at how things turned out, he was absolutely spot on. Sometimes the grass really isn't greener on the other side of the Atlantic.
