PSG's incredible 2025 isn't quite over yet. The Parisian giants could be adding another trophy to their already overflowing cabinet next month at the prestigious Laureus Awards in Madrid on April 20.

If you thought PSG's trophy haul was already impressive, think again. The club swept nearly everything at football's end-of-year ceremonies following their historic 2024-2025 season. They won the sextuple: Ligue 1, Coupe de France, Champions League, UEFA Super Cup, Intercontinental Cup, and Trophée des Champions. That's six major trophies in one season.

Now the Laureus ceremony, which has honored the world's best athletes for 26 years, has come calling. And PSG has three nominations across different categories.

Dembele and Doue in the Running

Ousmane Dembele is up for the massive honor of male sportsperson of the year. He's competing against some serious names: Carlos Alcaraz (tennis), Mondo Duplantis (athletics), Marc Marquez (MotoGP), Tadej Pogacar (cycling), and Jannik Sinner (tennis). That's quite the company for the French winger.

Young star Desire Doue also got a nod. He's among six nominees for world breakthrough of the year, competing alongside Formula 1 world champion Lando Norris and others. Not bad for a breakout season.

But here's the big one: PSG as a team is nominated for world team of the year. They're up against England's women's football team (European champions), the European Ryder Cup team, McLaren F1, India's women's cricket team, and the Oklahoma City Thunder (NBA champions).

How the Voting Works

The selection process is pretty impressive. Over 1,000 sports media outlets from more than 70 countries vote on the nominees. Then the Laureus World Sports Academy—a group of sports legends—chooses the winners.

Football fans will recognize nine former players on the Academy: Cafu, Del Piero, Desailly, Puyol, Figo, Giggs, Gullit, Raul, and Totti. That's a lot of football royalty deciding PSG's fate.

For those keeping an eye on betting markets, PSG's continued success and recognition could impact their odds for next season's competitions. Teams with this kind of momentum and global recognition often carry strong confidence into new campaigns. Luis Enrique has built something special in Paris, and these nominations just prove it.

Fun fact: Back in May 2023, Lionel Messi won this same male sportsperson award after Argentina's World Cup triumph. The ceremony was in Paris, but Messi didn't mention PSG in his speech despite being under contract with them at the time. Awkward!

The April 20 ceremony in Madrid will tell us if PSG's golden year gets one more stamp of approval from the sporting world.
