It's a neat thread to pull on. Across two decades, Messi's footwear tracks his career almost accidentally — the raw Nike days at a teenage Barcelona, the lime-green Adidas era that coincided with his first Ballon d'Or, and the increasingly personalized F50 colorways that marked his MLS years. The boots changed. So did everything else.
The early years: Nike, then Adidas, no looking back
In 2005, Messi was a 18-year-old playing for Barcelona in white and navy Nike cleats. Unremarkable boots for a player the world was only beginning to understand.
