FIFA Proposes $6.35 Billion Soccer Development Fund With $25 Million Per Association.

FIFA plans to propose a $6.35 billion fund for soccer development covering 2027 to 2030, with each national association set to receive $25 million over that four-year period, according to a document reviewed by The Associated Press on Tuesday.

The document, dated October 14, states that FIFA intends to distribute more than $3.5 billion from its financial reserves, citing what it called the "unprecedented commercial" success of its 48-team World Cup. FIFA said the money is meant "to enhance investment in football development across 211 FIFA member associations, confederations and other stakeholders."

The $25 million figure marks an increase from FIFA's original plan, which had set aside $10 million per association for the same four-year period.

The proposal follows comments from FIFA president Gianni Infantino roughly two weeks earlier, when he told leaders of Concacaf, UEFA and other confederations that he supported distributing more money from FIFA's reserves to its member associations. That earlier message came after Concacaf's Victor Montagliani and UEFA's Aleksander Čeferin, backed by the AFC and OFC presidents, had proposed giving each association an additional $10 million for the 2027-2030 cycle, with Infantino saying he wanted to bring aspects of that idea to the FIFA Council's October 15 meeting.
