CAS Sets End-of-November Date for Ruling on Senegal's AFCON Final Appeal.

The Court of Arbitration for Sport said on Monday that a ruling on Senegal's appeal against a decision awarding the Africa Cup of Nations to Morocco is expected by the end of November.

Senegal is challenging a Confederation of African Football appeal ruling from March that overturned a 1-0 victory on the field of play into a 3-0 win for Morocco by default.

Senegal had beaten host nation Morocco in the AFCON final in January following a 15-minute delay in play. Senegal's players walked off the field to protest after Morocco was awarded a penalty kick in the last minute of regulation time. The referee eventually allowed the game to restart, Morocco's penalty was saved, and Senegal won with the only goal of the match in extra time.

Soccer's Laws of the Game state that the referee's decisions are final.

A hearing on Senegal's appeal took place behind closed doors at CAS headquarters in Lausanne on October 8, and the CAS said a panel has since begun its deliberations.

"The CAS arbitrators have decided to issue a complete ruling which includes legal grounds, known as a CAS Award," the CAS said. "This process will require several weeks, with the CAS Award expected at the end of November 2026."
