Arteta Admits Arsenal 'A Bit Concerned' After Saka Forced Off Against Bayern Munich.

Mikel Arteta has revealed that Arsenal's medical staff are "a bit concerned" about an injury suffered by Bukayo Saka during Wednesday's UEFA Champions League match against Bayern Munich.

The England international lasted just 10 minutes at the Allianz Arena before going down in pain after playing what appeared to be a routine pass, raising his arm to signal he needed medical attention. Saka was also seen grabbing at his thigh as medical staff came onto the pitch to treat him before his night was ended, with Eberechi Eze brought on as his replacement.

The match finished 2-2, with goals from Eze, Alphonso Davies, Harry Kane and Declan Rice.

Speaking after the game, via football.london, Arteta said: "They are a bit concerned. A player who has to come off with a really sharp pain is never good news, but we'll have to wait and see."

Christos Tzolis is already sidelined with a hamstring injury picked up on international duty with Greece in the Nations League, leaving Noni Madueke and Eze as Arsenal's only genuine wide options.

Arsenal legend Martin Keown, speaking on TNT Sports, said the situation was "worrying" given Tzolis was already out injured on the other wing. Keown said: "Just trying to scoop it and then he goes down obviously in a lot of pain. It looks like his thigh muscle so that can be a number of weeks and they'll be scanning him tomorrow, early hours of tonight probably trying to get him fit again."

He added: "It's a blow though because you don't want to keep losing quality players and he started the game really but again it's the strength in depth to have Eze and playing as he did but you want this man fit. He's been magnificent for the club the last four or five years."

Arsenal could be without several key players heading into this weekend's home fixture against Everton. William Saliba also remains sidelined with a back problem that first emerged during this summer's FIFA World Cup.
