Rangers have knocked back a substantial £13 million offer from Turkish giants Fenerbahce for young striker Youssef Chermiti. The 21-year-old forward clearly has admirers, but the Ibrox club aren't ready to let him go just yet.
Meanwhile, Rangers are actively hunting for attacking reinforcements themselves. Their pursuit of Ryan Naderi has hit a snag, with Hansa Rostock refusing to accept a £2.6 million offer for the 22-year-old striker. The German third-tier side wants more money and won't sell until they've lined up a replacement.
The good news for Rangers? They've got room to increase their bid if needed. Naderi himself is keen on the move to Ibrox, and Rostock's head coach Daniel Brinkmann has said they won't block his transfer. Rangers have other striker options on their radar too, so they're not putting all their eggs in one basket.
Big Money Moves on the Cards
Rangers also rejected a loan offer from Monaco for winger Djeidi Gassama that would've triggered an obligation to buy for over £10 million. Interestingly, Sheffield Wednesday would pocket a percentage of any profit Rangers make if they sell Gassama, having only signed him for £2.2 million six months ago.
The transfer merry-go-round continues with German powerhouses Bayer Leverkusen and Borussia Dortmund reportedly scouting Rangers defender Emmanuel Fernandez. The 24-year-old centre-half has turned things around after a rocky start following his summer move from Peterborough.
Former Rangers boss Philippe Clement wants to reunite with Rabbi Matondo at Norwich City on loan. Meanwhile, three clubs are discussing deals for midfielder Joe Rothwell, with Rangers preferring a permanent sale for the 31-year-old.
Celtic Enter the Striker Race
Over at Celtic Park, the Hoops are making moves for Bodo/Glimt striker Kasper Hogh. The Norwegian club will decide the 25-year-old's future after their Champions League clash with Atletico Madrid. Celtic face competition from several European clubs, including Norwich City, and they've been told it'll cost close to £7 million to secure his signature.
Celtic are also in the hunt for RB Leipzig's Xaver Schlager, though Juventus appear to be winning that race. The Austrian midfielder's future remains uncertain despite Leipzig's sporting director claiming they've had positive contract extension talks.
Down at Hibernian, Italian side Hellas Verona had a £4.3 million bid rejected for striker Kieron Bowie. Reports suggest they've moved on to other targets, though Hibs expect improved offers to come in. If Bowie leaves this window, the fee could eclipse the club record £4.4 million they received for Scott Brown back in 2007. The 23-year-old Scotland striker has attracted interest from multiple Italian clubs, giving Hibs plenty of negotiating power.
Aberdeen are close to signing Kaiserslautern midfielder Afeez Aremu for around £250,000. The 26-year-old Nigerian is out of favour in Germany and could provide quality depth for the Dons' midfield. With players potentially moving in and out at Pittodrie, their squad composition could look quite different come February 3rd.
