Cristiano Ronaldo Becomes Part-Owner of Spanish Club UD Almería.

Cristiano Ronaldo just made his biggest move off the pitch yet. The Portuguese superstar has bought 25% of UD Almería, a Spanish club currently battling for promotion in the Liga Hypermotion (Spain's Second Division).

The deal went down through CR7 Sports Investments, a new branch of his CR7 SA company. While nobody's talking exact numbers, the official statement calls it a "strategic investment" that shows Ronaldo's serious about the club ownership game. At 41 years old, he's clearly thinking about life beyond playing.

"I have long had the ambition to contribute to football beyond the field," Ronaldo explained. "UD Almería is a Spanish club with a strong foundation and clear growth potential." He added that he's excited to work with the team leading the club into its next chapter.

Why Almería Makes Sense

Almería isn't just any random pick. The club sits third in the Liga Hypermotion table, just two points off the top spot with 15 matches left to play. That's promotion territory, and if they climb back to La Liga, this investment could pay off big time. For bettors keeping an eye on the Segunda División promotion race, Ronaldo's involvement adds an interesting twist to Almería's campaign.

The club's president, Mohamed Al Khereiji, couldn't hide his excitement. "We are very pleased that Cristiano has chosen our club to invest in," he said. "He is regarded as the best on the pitch, knows the Spanish leagues very well and understands the potential of what we are building here."

Al Khereiji and Ronaldo go way back. The Saudi businessman reportedly helped bring Cristiano to Al-Nassr after his messy Manchester United exit. Now he's convinced him to invest in the Andalusian club his group bought just a year ago.

From Goals to Boardrooms

This isn't just about making money. Ronaldo's been vocal about wanting to own a club. Back in December 2024 at the Dubai Globe Soccer Awards, he even talked about fixing structural problems at big European clubs from the inside if he ever became an owner.

Now he's getting that chance. While he continues scoring goals for Al-Nassr in Saudi Arabia, Ronaldo's building his business empire back in Spain. It's a return to Spanish football for CR7, just not in the way fans expected. Instead of pulling on a jersey, he'll be making decisions in the boardroom.

The investment marks a major milestone in Ronaldo's business career. He's combining his football knowledge with his entrepreneurial vision, creating a new legacy while his playing career winds down. For Almería fans, having one of football's biggest names backing their club could be exactly what they need to push for promotion.
