The Kansas City Current set a club attendance record on October 25, drawing a crowd expected to reach around 18,000 for the team's final home match of the 2026 season. CPKC Stadium holds about 12,000 people, so the club introduced a new Ground Pass experience at Current Landing to accommodate the overflow of supporters.
Around 6,000 fans gathered in the outdoor area, where large screens, food, games and family-friendly activities created a festival-like atmosphere. The $10 Ground Pass gave fans access to five viewing screens, a children's zone and halftime entertainment, letting them take part even without a stadium ticket.
Jocelyn Monroe, the club's chief marketing director, said the day was meant to bring the city together. "It's a fun day to come out and celebrate Kansas City and celebrate sports in Kansas City and be a part of history because this will be our largest attended match in Kansas City Current history," Monroe said. She added that accessibility was central to the planning: "What really makes the atmosphere is the people, so having more of our fans have the opportunity to come down and build out an accessible area for them is something we always were thinking about."
Patrick and Brittany Mahomes, who are part of the Current's ownership group, saw the milestone reflect the club's growing reach beyond the pitch, with the match becoming a citywide event rather than one limited to those inside the stadium.
Current Landing Adds New Restaurants and Events
The celebration also brought fresh activity to Current Landing, the entertainment district surrounding the stadium. Two new dining options, Revel Bar & Grill and Providence Pizza, added to the area's appeal on the busy matchday.
Providence Pizza held its grand opening that Sunday. Owner Aaron described the mix of emotions around the timing: "We are excited and nervous. This is our grand opening, so we are opening our restaurant on one of the probably busiest days for Current Landing."
The Current plans to host more One Current events at Current Landing throughout the year, building on the record turnout by giving supporters more ways to connect with the club outside regular matchdays.
