With September winding down, conference races across Oshkosh and Fond du Lac area high school sports are starting to take shape. Here's a look at the notable boys soccer and volleyball matchups on tap for the week of Sept. 21-26, along with a couple of milestones worth celebrating.
Games to Watch
On Tuesday, Sept. 22, Green Bay East heads to Winneconne for a 4:30 p.m. boys soccer match. Winneconne (4-2-1) has won its last two games and will look to keep that momentum going against a Green Bay East side (3-4-1) coming off a tie and a loss last week.
Also that evening, Central Wisconsin Christian travels to Laconia for a 7 p.m. girls volleyball clash between two conference leaders. Central Wisconsin Christian sits at 15-4 and tops the Trailways - East, while Laconia is 15-1 and leads the Flyway conference.
St. Mary's Springs and Winnebago Lutheran also meet Tuesday in a 7 p.m. crosstown girls volleyball matchup between two teams with similar records. St. Mary's Springs is 6-13 overall and 1-2 in conference play, while Winnebago Lutheran stands at 6-10 and 1-2 in conference.
Thursday, Sept. 24 brings a boys volleyball matchup between Oshkosh and Fond du Lac at 7 p.m. Oshkosh is still searching for its first win of the season, while Fond du Lac aims to add another conference victory.
That same night, Valley Christian visits Lourdes Academy for a 7:15 p.m. girls volleyball match. The two Oshkosh crosstown rivals delivered a thriller last season, with Valley Christian winning in four sets.
Milestones
Fond du Lac boys volleyball player Camden Monroe recently became the school's all-time leader in kills, reaching the mark during a win over Kimberly.
Laconia junior Kensley McCauley also hit a personal milestone, recording her 500th career kill in a win over Omro.
