Funchal appears far more locked down. According to The Sun, hotel guests at the Savoy Palace have already been told that two full floors and several bar areas will be closed on Friday and Saturday.
The couple had already landed in Portugal before the news broke, with Georgina posting a beach selfie that made sure her diamond engagement ring was the focal point. She also dropped a family photo with Ronaldo and his 16-year-old son Cristiano Jr., which had the distinct feel of pre-wedding content being carefully drip-fed.
Ceremonies at Funchal Cathedral typically begin at 3 p.m. Whether the world's most recognisable footballer can actually keep this one private for more than five minutes is another question entirely.
