Manchester United's New Sleeve Deal With SumUp Is Worth More Than You'd Think.

Manchester United have a new name on their sleeves — and it's reportedly worth more than the £20 million-per-season arrangement it replaces.

SumUp, a London-based financial technology firm, has been confirmed as United's Official Sleeve Partner, succeeding DXC Technology whose deal expired over the summer. United haven't disclosed the figures, but the club's insistence on not confirming details usually means the number is something they'd rather let leak than shout about — and the reported value being higher than DXC's deal tells you plenty.

Part of a broader commercial rebuild

This isn't happening in isolation. United have been stacking commercial agreements since returning to the Champions League, with the Betway training kit deal already in place. There's a clear pattern: the club is leveraging European football's biggest stage to attract partners who want global reach at scale.

Marc Armstrong, United's chief business officer, framed it cleanly: "The new agreement supports our commercial growth strategy and reflects the continued appeal of Manchester United as a platform for ambitious brands." That's polished corporate language, but it's also accurate. United's commercial arm remains one of the most valuable in world football even when the football itself is inconsistent.

SumUp's CCO Luke Griffiths leaned into the supporter angle, talking about fans "using SumUp Personal Account to manage and spend their money" and businesses that "help make matchdays special." It's the kind of integration play that modern sponsors are going for — not just a logo, but a lifestyle hook.

A sleeve deal history worth knowing

United pioneered sleeve sponsorships in English football's top flight. Kohler came on board as the first-ever Premier League sleeve partner when the format launched for the 2017/18 season, followed by DXC Technology in 2022. SumUp is now the third name to appear on that strip of fabric — and the most expensive one yet.

Whether the on-pitch product justifies that kind of commercial confidence is a different conversation entirely.
