Paris Saint-Germain beat Barcelona 4-2 in the UEFA Champions League on Tuesday, but the victory came at a cost after Khvicha Kvaratskhelia, Ousmane Dembele and Marquinhos all picked up injuries during the match.
Kvaratskhelia twisted his knee in the second half and had to be helped off the field, unable to stand on his own. PSG confirmed in a statement on Wednesday that he suffered a rupture of the anterior cruciate ligament in his right knee during the match against Barcelona and will undergo surgery in the coming days.
Dembele was substituted in the 19th minute because of a thigh injury, while Marquinhos was also forced off with a similar thigh problem. Both players are expected to miss a couple of weeks while they remain under treatment.
Kvaratskhelia scored 10 goals and provided six assists last season as PSG defended their Champions League title, form that also earned him a spot on the shortlist for the 2026 Ballon d'Or.
