Thomas Tuchel wants England to stop being scared of failure. The new England boss made it clear ahead of his first game in charge that he's bringing a totally different mindset to the Three Lions.

England host Albania at Wembley on Friday in their first World Cup qualifier. It's the beginning of Tuchel's mission to lead the team to glory in the United States.

"I want us to play with excitement and hunger," Tuchel explained. "I want the desire to win and the joy to win, with the acceptance that failure is part of it."

Breaking Free From Euro 2024 Disappointment

Despite reaching the Euro 2024 final, England's performances were widely criticized. Many fans found themselves frustrated watching timid displays against teams they should have dominated.

Tuchel addressed comments he made as a TV pundit during that tournament. "I felt tension and pressure on the shoulders of the players," he admitted. "They were playing not to lose rather than with the excitement to make something special."

The German coach wants to change this approach completely. He's promising to let players express themselves without fear. This aggressive mindset could make England a more attractive betting proposition in upcoming matches.

Tuchel even showed his lighter side when asked about the famous weight of the England shirt. "I heard it's a heavy shirt, but it's in fact not – it's a high-quality shirt that will weigh less when we come to America," he joked.

The Tuchel-Kane Connection

England captain Harry Kane already has experience working with Tuchel. The striker scored an impressive 44 goals under him at Bayern Munich last season.

Kane admitted he was surprised by Tuchel's appointment. "I didn't expect, especially as a national team coach," he said. "But once it was announced I was really excited because I knew what he could bring to this squad."

This established relationship could prove crucial for England's attacking fluidity. Having your captain and star striker already familiar with the manager's methods is a significant advantage.

Tuchel has made it clear he wants an emotional and active team. "We play for England, we are not Argentina, we're not Spain," he stated. "The DNA is clearly English, which means it's physical and tough and ready to fight."

For bettors, this suggests England might become a more aggressive, front-foot team in attack. Expect higher-scoring games than the cautious approach seen under previous management – potentially making over/under markets more interesting.

With his 18-month contract running through the World Cup, Tuchel's immediate challenge is getting players to shed their inhibitions. If he succeeds, England could finally turn their undoubted talent into the trophy that has eluded them for so long.
