Hip-hop icon Snoop Dogg is looking to bring his culinary skills to Scottish football. The 53-year-old rapper has announced plans to open a burger truck at Celtic Park, home of Scottish Premiership giants Celtic FC.
The California native has been a long-time Celtic supporter and now wants to deepen his connection with the Glasgow club. Snoop, whose real name is Calvin Cordozar Broadus Jr, believes stadium food can be much better than what fans typically experience.
"I would love to bring a pop-up burger van to a sports stadium to show fans that food at stadiums can be good," Snoop told The Sunday Mail. "It's got to be Celtic Park, man."
The Doggfather's Special Recipe
Snoop isn't just slapping his name on any old burger joint. He's got specific ideas about what makes the perfect stadium snack.
"The secret to a good burger is the love in the preparation," he explained. "The ground beef has to be mixed with some secret spices, then add good quality cheese and maple-cured bacon."
What makes this venture extra special? Snoop plans to serve the burgers himself, ensuring Celtic supporters get the full experience. And in true football rivalry fashion, when asked if Rangers fans might get a taste, he cheekily responded: "Nah, I think we will give that a miss."
From Burgers to Club Ownership?
This burger venture might just be the appetizer to something bigger. Snoop revealed last October that he's interested in investing in Celtic FC, citing Ryan Reynolds and Rob McElhenney's successful Wrexham AFC project as inspiration.
"I love what Ryan has done with Wrexham," Snoop said. "If the chance came to invest in Celtic, I would be crazy not to take a look at it."
The rapper has even consulted with celebrity chef Gordon Ramsay about his food business plans. His growing connection to Celtic could signal interesting developments for the club's future and commercial potential.
Snoop's enthusiasm for Celtic runs deep. "I have never seen fans like the Celtic fans. There is something so special about them," he said. "The best players and coaches in the world tell you there is nowhere like Celtic Park."
For Celtic supporters, having a global superstar like Snoop Dogg associated with their club could boost both their profile and matchday experience. If his burger venture succeeds, it might just be the first step in a larger involvement with the Scottish Premiership powerhouse.
