Jurgen Klopp might throw a wrench in Arsenal's transfer plans from his new position as Head of Global Soccer at Red Bull. The former Liverpool boss, who left Anfield after nine trophy-laden years, now oversees football operations across Red Bull's network of clubs, including RB Leipzig.

This matters because Arsenal have set their sights on Leipzig's star striker Benjamin Sesko. The Gunners are reportedly advancing in negotiations for the Slovenian forward, according to transfer guru Fabrizio Romano.

"Arsenal are now advancing in negotiations for Benjamin Šeško after initial concrete talks reported last week," Romano revealed. "Discussions underway and proceeding well between all parties involved, player & clubs."

Arsenal Lead Race as European Giants Step Aside

What makes this situation interesting is that several European heavyweights have backed away from Sesko. Real Madrid president Florentino Perez stated bluntly: "He is not the profile we are looking for."

Paris Saint-Germain and Bayern Munich have also reportedly passed on the opportunity to sign the talented forward. This leaves Arsenal as the frontrunner in what could be a major coup for the North London side.

Journalist Ben Jacobs confirms Arsenal's interest is concrete. "Arsenal continue talks with Leipzig over Benjamin Sesko with a bid possible soon. Sesko is keen on a move to AFC," Jacobs reported.

The Gunners appear to have alternatives lined up too. Viktor Gyökeres remains under consideration, with Arsenal believing either striker could be secured for around €70 million (£60m).

Klopp's Influence Could Be Decisive

Here's where Klopp enters the picture. As the new soccer overlord of Red Bull's football empire, the German has significant influence over transfer dealings at Leipzig. He could potentially block or complicate Sesko's move if he believes it's not in the best interest of the Red Bull organization.

For betting enthusiasts, this situation creates interesting market dynamics. Arsenal's odds of landing Sesko might lengthen if Klopp decides to make things difficult. Meanwhile, the striker's future remains uncertain enough that alternative destinations could offer value bets.

Manchester United fans should take note too. Reports suggest Gyökeres remains open to joining the Red Devils even without Champions League football, though United haven't yet approached Sporting Lisbon.

The coming weeks will be crucial in this transfer saga. Arsenal fans will hope Klopp's new role doesn't prevent them from securing their primary striking target, while bettors should watch closely for any shifts in this developing story.
