Galway's Dyer Dominates April Player of the Month Award After Stunning Form.

Moses Dyer has blown away the competition to win the SSE Airtricity/Soccer Writers Ireland Player of the Month for April. The Galway United striker wasn't just the winner – he absolutely dominated the voting, receiving nearly twice as many votes as his closest rivals.

Warren Davis of Drogheda United finished second, with Shamrock Rovers' Jack Byrne taking third place in the nationwide poll. For Dyer, this marks his second nomination, but his first win of the prestigious monthly award.

"I am feeling good and it's good to get nominated twice but even better to go and win the award," Dyer said with a smile. "I think April was my best month so far playing for Galway United."

From New Zealand to Ireland: Dyer's Football Journey

The New Zealand-born attacker has had quite the global career. Before landing in Ireland, Dyer played in Norway and Canada, making him something of a football nomad.

"It's been a long journey playing in so many different countries but Ireland is my favourite so far," Dyer revealed. "It's taken me a while to get used to the weather here but I have settled in well."

Born in Palmerston North on New Zealand's North Island, Dyer started at Auckland City's youth academy. His talent earned him a spot on New Zealand's U20 FIFA World Cup squad in 2017, showing his pedigree on the international stage.

Currently, Dyer is proving to be one of the league's most clinical forwards. He's netted an impressive eight goals in just 13 matches for Galway this season, making him a key player to watch for fantasy football managers and bettors alike.

Galway's Form and Future Prospects

Despite Dyer's individual brilliance, Galway United have hit a rough patch recently. They've suffered defeats to Waterford, Bohemians, and St Pat's, causing them to slip to eighth in the table.

"We had a little dip in form lately," Dyer admitted. "But we are still only six points off the top. We need to go on another little run and get right back up the table."

This recent form slump makes Galway an interesting proposition for bettors. With a striker in such hot form but team results wavering, their upcoming fixtures could offer value for those looking at both goals markets and match outcomes.

For punters keeping an eye on the SSE Airtricity League, Dyer's consistency in front of goal makes the over 2.5 goals market particularly attractive in Galway's games. His scoring streak suggests he could be a smart anytime goalscorer bet in upcoming fixtures.

Working under manager John Caulfield seems to be bringing out the best in Dyer. If Galway can recapture their earlier season form, they could quickly climb back up the table – something worth considering for those looking at league position markets.

With Dyer firing on all cylinders, Galway remains just six points off the top spot despite their recent struggles – making them potential dark horses in the title race if they can string together a consistent run.
